MedStart and Sacramento State University partner to offer internships

Sacramento, CA – MedStart, the Sacramento regional not-for-profit medical technology advocacy program announced a partnership with Sacramento State University and its highly recognized Career Center aiming to provide internships for Sacramento State students within medical technology start-ups in the region.

“This provides a great opportunity for Sacramento State students from many different majors including engineering, mathematics, biology, accounting and finance to gain real life work experience and to learn what it takes to make a company grow and be successful. We also see the benefit that this will provide to the start-up community and the Sacramento region by creating jobs for graduates so they remain in the area,” says Mary Kober, Senior Employer Relations & Workforce Analyst at Sacramento State.

The partnership with Sacramento State and MedStart is the first formal effort established between the start-up program and the university to support both internships and start-ups. The partnership began on August 15th, 2016 and is expected to continue throughout the year. Companies do not need to be a member of MedStart to participate.

“MedStart continues to look for partnerships to enhance the capabilities and opportunities that we can provide to those in our region. Being able to support both undergrad and graduate students from Sacramento State and in turn support the medical technology start-ups in our region is a win-win for everyone,” said Matt Phillips, Director of MedStart.
